Want to help Lyons build an outdoor basketball court?
The city of Lyons does not have an outdoor regulation basketball court. Two years ago, with the help of LHS boys' basketball coach Brian Friess, donations were solicited to begin purchasing equipment to build an outdoor court. Enough funds were donated to purchase three heavy duty posts, backboards, and rims. One of those was installed at the high school football field/tennis courts parking lot. Two more will be installed on a new outdoor court when funds are available to build the court. The court will be built with volunteer labor as a joint venture of the school district, the City of Lyons, and the Lyons Recreation Commission, but approximately $10,000 needs to be raised to purchase the concrete. If you would like to help Lyons build an outdoor basketball court, send your gift to USD 405 Basketball Project, 800 S Workman, Lyons, KS 67554.

LHS FB practice scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, August 15 has been moved to 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm because of the forecasted high heat
