
The Hall of Fame inductions for Bob Wedel and Gary Sechrist originally scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 29 during the CKTL track meet in Lyons may be rescheduled for as early as 4:30 pm depending on the weather.


The Lyons High School e-sports team came home from the State LAN Tournament held at Pratt Community College. The Valorant team received medal for taking 5th place.
Jorge Alvarez and Grant Buckley placed 3rd overall for the 2v2 Super Smash Bros: Ultimate bracket. Jorge and Grant were also declared the 3A class Champions.
Sam DeWitt and Ricardo Tapia were the 3A class Runners-Up for the same 2v2 Smash bracket.
Several college recruiters were there recruiting the three seniors on the team about scholarship possibilities at the postsecondary level.


Congratulations to LMS 8th grader Aaliyah Gonzalez. She won $1,700 as a finalist in her category/division in the Kansas Entrepreneurship Challenge for her presentation on Fruta Fiesta Designs.
In addition, Aaliyah's group won 1st place in the Design Challenge that kicked off the event. Participants were placed in groups of 4-6 people and were presented with a challenge that a real business was having. Groups had two hours to come up with solutions to help the local business overcome their challenge.

Lyons High School has been selected as a 2025 All Star High School by the Kansas Board of Regents! The recognition is evidence of the positive efforts made by Lyons High School to get students ready for post-high school success. Congratulations to Lyons High School staff and students!

There will be a public reception in the LHS cafeteria today from 4:00-5:00 in honor of Doug Higgins. Doug has spent over 40 years contributing to the Lyons Schools, including duties as a teacher, coach, coordinator, AD, assistant principal, director, and principal. Since his "retirement", he has continued to support the Lyons Schools as the "Voice of the Lyons Lions" by broadcasting hundreds of football, basketball, baseball, and softball games on Ad Astra Radio as well as officiating volleyball.
Prior to the start of the varsity girls' game tonight vs Minneapolis, Doug will be inducted into the Lyons Schools Hall of Fame.

Lyons Schools will be in session Thursday, February 20th. Please make sure your students dress warmly. The City of Lyons has asked the district to reduce the temperatures in the buildings due to a request from Black Hills Energy because of a supply issue. The school buildings' thermostats have been turned down in most cases from 72 to about 68 degrees in classrooms.

The LHS AFJROTC and the Pride of Lyons Marching Band both represented Lyons well (as always) at the Kansas State Fair Band Day Parade!







Lyons High School and Lyons Middle School are on a soft lockdown at the moment. Students will not be allowed to leave while the lockdown is in effect. A cell phone call was placed to 911 from the campus, but the caller hung up. Police are at the school attempting to find out who placed the call. We will update you as soon as we have any additional information.

The 6th Annual National Night Out will take place in Lyons at Tobias Park and the City Swimming Pool, Tuesday evening, August 6, 6:00-8:00 with free swimming and free ice cream.
