Central Honors Retirees

Due to social distancing there was not a retirement reception this year. However, we still wanted to recognize and honor our employees for their years of service and dedication to USD 405.

Cards & personal notes of congratulations were collected and sent to the district office. Representatives delivered those cards along with a golden apples and small cake on Sunday, May 3 to celebrate their retirement. A video has been posted of their recognition at the bottom of this page.

Bob Turner

I have been in education twenty seven years. I began my educational career in 1993 at USD 312 Haven. I was the At-Risk Coordinator for two years and then taught at the middle school for the next eight years. My last two years in Haven I was the district Athletic Director and Elementary PE teacher. While at Haven I coached baseball, basketball and football. In 2005 I took the District Administrator job at USD 279 Jewell. I was there for three years before I applied and was hired at USD 405 in 2008. I was at Central Elementary for my first year then moved to the High School to become Assistant Principal/Athletic Director. I was in that position for four years and them moved back to Central and finished my career there.  I would also like to thank USD 405 Board of Education and the Administrative team as well as the staff at Central.  You all made my job interesting and enjoyable. Lastly I would like to thank my wife Susie for the years she has been there to support me and my children Matthew and Michelle and her husband Jordan and our grandson Bronson.

Barb Sechrist

I graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1981 with a BS in Home Economics.  I have been in education for 26 years.  In 1994, I became a preschool Paraeducator for the Kingman School district.  We moved into the Lyons school district in 1996 where I became a preschool Para for 9 years and a kindergarten Para for 2 years. I moved on to working with middle school and elementary school students.  I have been in the Lyons school district for 24 years.

What I will miss the most are the students that I have had the pleasure of working with. I am hoping that all the students I worked with over the years know how much I cared about them.  I will definitely miss them, my co-workers and teachers that have helped me throughout the school years.

We wish Bob and Barb the best in new chapters of their lives.
