Lyons High School Boys Tennis Team Prepares for Upcoming Season Under the Guidance of  an Experienced Coach

Lyons, Kansas - With the start of the spring season fast approaching, the boys tennis team at Lyons High School is gearing up for another exciting year under the leadership of their head coach, Jack Wilson.

Wilson is no stranger to the world of high school tennis, having served as the head coach of the Lyons boys team for the past four years, which includes the COVID-19 shortened season of 2020. In addition to this, he has also coached the Lyons girls team for three years, including one year as an assistant coach and two years as the head coach. Prior to his tenure at Lyons High School, Wilson coached the Fairfield High School tennis team for three years and served as an assistant girls coach at Russell High School for a year.

A retired mechanical engineer with 26.5 years of experience, Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team. His leadership has led to significant success for the Lyons boys team, including standout performances by players such as Amare Campbell, who finished third at #1 singles in CKL in 2022.

As the team looks ahead to the upcoming season, they are excited to build upon last year's successes. Notable returning players include Matt Adams, Jarrett Smith, Zach Kottas, and Sam Steele, all of whom have shown promising potential in past seasons. Although Philip Capps did not play in 2022, he is expected to make a strong contribution to the team this year.

The Lyons boys tennis team is eager to hit the courts and showcase their hard work and dedication under the guidance of Coach Wilson. They are set to face tough competition in the league and state, but are determined to put forth their best efforts and continue building upon the success of past seasons.
