Miss Zimmerman accepting her award

The Staff Care Committee could not choose this month between a couple of the nominees for the El Potrillo Above & Beyond Award. Therefore this month help us by congratulating both Lita Zimmerman and Linda Keller!

Every year Lita organizes a food drive at the middle school to help the Goodfellows stock the boxes they give out to families in need. (over 250 this year)

This year Lita and her StuCo kids encouraged middle school students to "block hours" as an incentive to bring food. Students brought enough food to cover a 4 x 7 area times 10 class periods (each class period, plus Power Hour and PLT). She also received monetary donations totaling $150. Goodfellows reported that this was the best year by far.
Monday, the middle school enjoyed a fun day organized by Lita and her crew with a Christmas fashion show and some competitive play!

Linda Keller organized the special education Job Olympics again this year which is a very large undertaking. It involves a dozen schools, 100 special education competitors, and approximately 100 volunteers in about 25 different event competitions. In addition, her nomination stated, "Linda is a great benefit to RCSSC, USD 405, Kiwanis, her Church, and the community. I know she plays an integral role in Job Olympics as well as the Reins of Hope horse therapy. Linda is amazing in her service to others.

Each of these tremendous ladies will receive a $25 gift certificate courtesy of El Potrillo.

Other nominees this month included Andrea Carlson, Roser Puig, LaNita Herrick, Tina Ludwig, Mark Schottler, Michele Belden, Brent Belden, Courtney Farmer, Greg Moss, Laura Rhodes, and Greg Konda.
