It is late Summer 1946 on the Frake family farm in Brunswick, Iowa. The Frakes are preparing to leave for the Iowa State Fair. Father, Abel, is confident his prize boar, Blue Boy, will win a blue ribbon, but neighbor, Dave Miller, isn't so sure.

State Fair, released in 1945, was the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written directly for the screen. The film, with a script by Hammerstein, Sonya Levien, and Paul Green, is an adaptation of the 1933 film of the same title.  State Fair was adapted for the stage in 1969, in a production at St. Louis's Muny that starred Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.

THANK YOU SENIOR CAST MEMBERS:

Mallorie Blank - I’ve always loved theater and have been heavily involved since the start of high school. Some of my biggest accomplishments include my favorite parts in past shows, getting third place at state for forensics, and my continued dedication throughout my years. My favorite part I’ve played is Gloria from Bye Bye Birdie, which included a fun dance scene and a funny flirtatious personality. My future plans are to go to Emporia State University and major in elementary education. I also am considering continuing my love for music in college as well. I’m excited for the show, and hope you are too-Enjoy!

Tyler Deering has been a part of the theater program at Lyons High School since his freshman year. In his time at LHS, Tyler has been a part of Lil Abner, Godspell, Bye Bye Birdie, Clue, Dear Edwina Jr, Spy School, and now State Fair. Tyler is enlisted in the U.S. ARMY and plans on studying Elementary or Music Education at Sterling College. He would like to thank his friends, family, and teachers who have always been there to support his goals. Enjoy the show!

Shelby Johnston is a senior at Lyons High School and has been a part of theater both in the school and at Family Community Theatre (FCT) in Hutchinson. In the past 8 years of theater, her favorite productions have been Freaky Friday at FCT where she played Hannah, and Bye Bye Birdie at the High school, where she played Ursula. She has been involved in Cheer for two years, Tennis for three years, Lionaires for three years, and Choir for two years. She has helped paint and build sets for two years. When she graduates she plans to study Marine Biology at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.

Anilec Rios  is a senior, and my parents are Isreal and Celina Rios. I've been in Lionaires for 2 years. I've done the musical for 3 years. I've been in cheer for 1 year, track for 3 years, and was a
basketball manager for 2 years. I've been in the Spanish club for 2 years, Halo for 1 year and Zero Reasons Why for 1 year. I'm also in the band for marching season. I am in Colorguard and I
do percussion.

Jarrett Smith I have been involved in the performing arts since my Freshman year. For musicals, I’ve been in Lil’ Aber, Bye Bye Birdie, and Dear Edwina. I’ve also been in the playsincluding Clue and Spy School, and am very excited for our play this year! I attended state forensics and received the state champion title (IDA) with Lily Stansbury and 3rd place (Duet) with Mallorie Blank. Our band has had nothing less than success as well. Throughout my years, we have had multiple seasons of only outstanding ratings, and I’m glad I have had the opportunity to lead them as drum major this year. I’m excited to see what the arts have to offer for me in the future, but am sad to leave what I’ve had so close to me during these years. I want to dedicate my performance to my beloved dog Zaya, who sadly passed away.  I know she is watching and barking from heaven. Enjoy the show!

Stone Starbuck is a senior at Lyons high school he really enjoys theater but has been out of the game of being in plays and musicals for a long time. He plans to attend Barton for nursing.
He also enjoy playing golf and playing basketball and especially loves Twizzlers.

Sam Steele is a Senior at Lyons High School and is a newly found theater enthusiast. He was convinced to be LHS’ performance of “Spy School” and now goes to any theater performance in a 10-mile radius. He enjoys all aspects of Technical theater, and has helped build and paint set for State Fair the Musical. He is planning on pursuing engineering at an undecided college or university.
