This past Saturday, Oct. 22nd Central had 6 students participate in the South Central Kansas Music Educators' Association Elementary Honor Choir hosted by Christa McAuliffe Academy in Wichita. These 5th-grade students completed an audition and qualified to attend this year: Skylar Brinson, Brooklynn Curzon, Jade Leiker, Chloe Johnston, Izabela Martinez, and Rebecca McCormick. Teachers for the participating schools prepared the students on the music, and on the day of the event, students rehearsed the music with the guest director (this year Mr. Donald Gray) and their fellow choir musicians. The choir then performed a concert at 12 p.m. the day of the event and as always it was an outstanding performance. Our students from Lyons represented our community very well and displayed the tradition of excellence in music that our school district is recently becoming known for.
