Spanish Class

Roser Puig, LHS Spanish teacher,  will present the National Spanish Exams Awards for the first time in Lyons High School. This is a national contest to recognize student achievement in the study of Spanish.

Puig will give students awards or certificates accordingly, Tuesday 4th, in the LHS Cafeteria.

The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Since 2006, the National Spanish Examinations have been administered in an online format and was the first national world language exam to be administered online. These examinations are the most widely used tests of Spanish in the United States.  In the spring of 2020, a total of 140,000 students registered for the examinations online, The standardized assessment tool was given voluntarily by about 4000 middle and high school teachers throughout the United States

The purpose of the National Spanish Examinations is

  1. to recognize achievement in the study of the Spanish language
  2. to promote proficiency in interpretive communication in the Spanish language
  3. to assess the national standards as they pertain to learning Spanish
  4. to stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish
