Dear LHS parents and guardians,
I understand that this will be a long email and I apologize for that. However, I feel like it is important and may help you out as I am sure you have numerous questions. As you may know, the Board of Education has voted to postpone the start of school until August 27th. The reason for the later start is to allow our staff more time to plan for the different ways in which school could look like over the next school year.
The purpose of this email is to give you a general guideline for the three potential scenarios and to share with you how we plan to explain the plans to you after we have had a chance to figure out the specifics.
3 scenarios:
Low Risk - On-Site Learning - Students will be on-site at LHS all 5 days. We will use additional safety precautions to limit the spread of any germs.
Moderate Risk - Hybrid Learning - Students will be on-site for 2 days out of the week and work remotely from home for 3.
High Risk - Remote Learning - Students will be working from home all 5 days of the week.
There are a lot of details to be figured out and questions to be answered for each case. I wish that I had all those details figured out and questions answered now, but that is what our staff will be working on over the next 2 weeks.
Lyons High School will be hosting at Parent Camp on Tuesday, August 25 beginning at 6:30 p.m. I hope that you plan to attend the Parent Camp. During enrollment parents were asked to complete a survey for topics they would like more clarification or additional information. These topics will be covered during a general session or in breakout sessions during the Parent Camp. Additional information about the Parent Camp will be sent out next week.
