Penguin Life
By Shannon Hendricks
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Hendricks’ class at Park Elementary have been learning all about penguins. Students practiced beginning addition problems using marshmallow ice cubes. The class has been read several books about penguin characteristics and penguin life. After listening to the stories, students help develop a penguin bubble information map and used their knowledge to write a sentence about penguins. They also participated in a “blubber “ science experiment in order to better understand how penguins stay warm in an extremely cold environment. While focusing on shape recognition and following multi-step directions they also made their own unique penguins.
