Pi Day at LMS

The day before spring break (March 11). Students and staff of Lyons Middle School participated in Pi Day--this day is a celebration of math. The students are on teams and move throughout the building to play math games. The games are designed to help students solidify their math knowledge prior to the state assessments. The games included
M&M graphing, Battle Graph, Operation, Fraction War, Factor Top It, Math-o, Ratio Rummy and Travel.At the end of the day students were treated to Rice Krispie spheres made by the 7th grade reading award winners. Then the students that memorized the most digits of Pi were able to select a teacher to "pie" in the face. Evan, 7th grader, memorized the most digits--56. Tyler, 6th grader, memorized 47 digits. Ariel, 7th grader, memorized 46 digits. Evan pied Mr. Logan, Tyler pied Mrs. Hurst and Ariel pied Ms. Muse.
