Central Elementary: Academics

Central Continues Tradition

Christmas traditions can be so special and Central School had several for the holidays. This was the 14th year in a row that the students made ornaments as a class project and decorated twin trees, one in their school library, and one in the community. The Lyons Public Library graciously allowed Central to decorate their tree again this year. The teachers chose a "Kansas" theme and the tree features Jayhawks, buffalo, sunflowers, calico candy canes and many more Kansas symbols. We hope you will checked out our handiwork at the one of the Libraries this holiday seasons. Students chosen to decorate the trees were: Kennedy, Kylie, Owen, Nathan, Lesly, Odalis, Taylor, Amanda, Lance and Alex
Another tradition observed at Central are accepting donations for the Needy Student Fund and the collection of food for the Rice County Food Bank. A friendly competition between some classes developed to see which class can collect the most pounds of food. Students collected 880 pounds of food for the food bank and $100.00 for the school's needy student fund. Donations were given during the Christmas assembly Friday, December 18th in Central’s library.
