Lyons Middle School: Fine Arts

Biography

by Deanna Hurst

January 02, 2008

I am so glad that you are visiting my home page! Welcome!!

I am very excited and feel privileged to be teaching the Lyons Middle School students in the areas of 6th-8th Art and 7th grade Tech Basic. August of 2005 brought me to USD #405 as a member of the LMS faculty and community. Before moving to Lyons, I taught 1-12 Art in Solomon, KS for four years and K-12 Art in Wilson, KS for two years.

My educational background includes an AS from Garden City Community College; BA-Art Education with emphasis in Ceramics and Printmaking from Fort Hays State University and a MFA with emphasis in bronze sculpture and Printmaking from Fort Hays State University. Numerous classes in the field of Technology have assisted me in instruction of Tech Basic.

My family is very important to me. My husband, Gary, works in Salina, KS as the project manager of the Ignition and Automation division of Exline, Inc. We have two daughters, Jessica McAuley and Kellyn Hurst, a wonderful son-in-law Jim McAuley and a beautiful granddaughter Kaitlynn McAuley, who all live in the Kansas City Area.

Please feel free to come by and see what we are doing in Art and Tech Basic.
