Central's Spelling Bee

The Central School Spelling Bee was held January 17, 2007. Fourth and fifth grade teachers chose three students and an alternate from each of their classrooms to participate in the spelling bee. At the end of the bee five students are winners. Practice for the county spelling bee is held each day before school, and during the first few practices an alternate is chosen. Mrs. Whitsitt has been the coach for 21 years. The Rice County Spelling Bee will be held February 10 at the Chase High School gymnasium. The bee starts at 9:00 A.M. Mrs. Libhart will serve as one of the judges for the event. The winner from the county will participate in the Kansas State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka.
