I grew up in Emporia, Kansas. Upon my graduation from Emporia High School, I enrolled at Kansas State Teachers College, which is now Emporia State University, and majored in elementary education. I taught first grade at Walnut School in Emporia for three years. After moving to Lyons in 1974, I substituted for the Lyons school district for eight years. I was also a paraeducator for one year. I have been teaching fifth grade at Central since 1984. My husband, Clark, and I are parents of two adult children. Doug lives in Newton with his wife, Rebecca and son Matthew. Mike lives in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Both boys followed in the footsteps of their mother and graduated from Emporia State University. I enjoy playing with my grandson and spending time with my family. In my spare time I enjoy reading or when the weather is warm, I can be seen riding my red Honda scooter! One of my favorite places to vacation is Grand Lake, Colorado.  |
