Lynne Bush
3rd Grade Teacher
Even though I was born in Kansas City, Missouri, a Jayhawk is what I consider myself more than a Missourian. When I was three (my sister was my birthday present when I was four) my mother, dad, and I moved into a new house in Prairie Village, Kansas. It was there that I resided until graduating from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1966. (Wow, that was a long time ago.) I had the opportunity to obtain my B.S. in Education from The University of Kansas in Lawrence and earn my teaching certificate. It was at KU that I met my future husband, a native of Lyons, Kansas. We graduated from college one weekend and got married the next. I put him through KU's Law School by teaching second and third grade in North Lawrence. I have also had the pleasure of teaching at the kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grades and Title I Math in Arlington, Virginia, Sterling, and Lyons, Kansas. My husband and I have lived in Sterling, Kansas since 1975. We bought and renovated a 1900 home and have painted the monstrosity five times ourselves. We raised our two daughters (now in college) there. Living in central Kansas has given our family many advantages: good family and small town values, many opportunities attending the public schools, and memorable fun family vacations. Besides teaching, I keep busy taking walks with my husband and Airedale "Cocoa," snow-skiing, flower gardening, and maintaining our hundred year old home. |
