Lora Beaver
Speech Language Pathologist
October 05, 2006
I grew up on a farm south of Windom, and attended a two-room country school for the first 6 years. I am a proud graduate of Little River High School. After graduation I attended Hutchinson Community Junior College for two years, then graduated from Wichita State University in 1978 with a Master Degree. I began working as a speech language pathologist in El Dorado, Kansas in the fall of 1978, where I have a caseload of 80 students among the four elementary buildings. Since joining the Rice County Special Services Cooperative in 1980, I have worked in all of the schools in the county at some point. At the present, I work with students at Central Elementary, Lyons Middle School and Lyons High School and only have a caseload of 45! I try to keep up on new ideas and strategies by attending workshops and conferences yearly. My husband, Levi, is the director for Rice County’s Noxious Weed program, and County Sanitarian. He is also involved in county zoning and hazardous waste disposal programs. We have four children. Susan, recently married, is a junior at Kansas State University, Jason is a senior at LHS, Kathryn is an 8th grader at LMS, and Morgan is a 6th grader at LMS. Our home is filled with animals (1 dog and 6 cats, at the moment). In my spare time, I enjoy reading just about anything (mysteries are my favorite), or completing homemade projects involving lace making and counted cross-stitch. |
